Does anybody here remember Proposition 13? (Older folks hands shoot up). Well it was an historic legislation that happened about 35 years ago
and limits property taxes in California to 1% of the assessed value. And now it’s become the “sacred cow” in politics that NOBODY will touch. Well, recently I’ve been receiving SO many calls and emails recently from homeowners who have lived in their home for a LONG time, but now want to move. But they are worried about losing their super low property tax base (that was locked in by prop 13). Most of them don’t know that they can transfer that low base to any other locale in Calif and possibly save tens of thousands of dollars a year! It’s super easy. Many older people have their home paid off, so this is their only obstacle.
So if you know of someone who is hesitant to sell because of their worry about property taxes, have them give us a call. We can help
Ron Arnold, where people matter and homes are incidental
